Olive-Oil-for-Hair

Olive oil is a widely used ingredient in hair products such as shampoos, conditioners, hair oils, sprays, and more! And why not! They are rich in Vitamin E and are an excellent source of oleic acid, palmitic acid, and squalene, all known to have hair-softening properties.

Many studies show that olive oil can have great moisturising effects, strengthening your hair and at the same time leaving it smooth, shiny, and overall healthy.

Here are five key benefits olive oils can have on your hair and some tips on how to start including olive oils in your weekly or even daily hair care routine.

Olive oil helps eliminate dandruff

Olive oil is a cheap and simple solution to eliminate dandruff. A simple massage with olive oil can help soften the scalps and leave your hair smooth and moisturised.

If you have not used olive oils on your hair before, start with one or two tablespoons of oil. If you have tried an oil mask or oil treatment on your hair before, you can be slightly more generous depending on your hair length and thickness.

You can either lightly heat the oil or simply add a teaspoon of lemon juice to it and massage that into your scalp. For better results, wrap your hair in a towel or a shower cap and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Comb and rinse your hair after with shampoo. Depending on how much oil you applied, you may need to shampoo your hair one more time.

Olive oil helps strengthen your hair

Olive oils are high in antioxidants, which help prevent cell damage, leaving your hair strong, smooth, and healthy.

Use a banana and olive oil mask to prevent hair loss or an olive oil and honey mask that helps stimulate hair growth and keep your hair shiny, smooth, and healthy!

Helps with hair growth

Continuously treating your hair with olive oil messages can help with hair growth. Olive oil helps remove sebum from hair, which is known to slow down the growth of new hair follicles. It provides extra moisture and nutrition, which helps promote hair growth.

Try using homemade olive oil and avocado mask once every week. Simply mash half a ripe avocado, mix with two to four tablespoons of olive oils, and stir until smooth. Apply it on damp hair and leave for 30-40 minutes before shampooing and conditioning your hair.

Olive oil helps treat damages and split ends

Olive oil can help treat damaged hair and hair with split ends. You can simply apply the oil to the last two inches of the hair or where the most damage is and leave it for 10-15 minutes before shampooing. We recommend doing this once every week.

If you have recently bleached, coloured, permed, or relaxed your hair, olive oil treatment is a fantastic way to give your hair extra moisture, but we do recommend waiting for at least 72 hours after your hair was treated to apply olive oil.

Olive oil helps control frizz and softens hair

Sometimes dryness can cause your hair to be frizzy, making it unmanageable. Thankfully, olive oil’s moisturising properties help make the hair more controllable and cooperative, so everyday brushing and styling are much easier.

If your hair needs taming quickly, simply apply a few drops of olive oil. We also recommend treating your hair with an olive oil massage every other week to keep the dryness and fizziness away.

So, there you are! Olive oils are not only great to keep your hair moisturised but are also known to help make it more manageable, keep away dandruff, soften it, help with hair growth, and more! They are truly liquid gold.
